Donald Gross, Jr., CFA

I first became attracted to the world of finance and investments during my Intro to Finance class at Lehigh University. I saw a field of endeavor that was intellectually stimulating and always changing. Even after being in the investment business for 30 years, I still learn something new every day.

Once I entered the investment field I realized how much bad advice there is out in the marketplace, whether it be from mass-market magazines or large brokerage houses. Time and time again I saw advice that was incorrect, unsupported or that favored the advisor over the client. I decided I could do things differently.

I founded Gross Investments in 1988 as both an investment management and investment consulting firm. My first year I brought in 10 clients and taught CPA seminars and college classes on the side at F&M, Elizabethtown and Millersville.

I hired my first employee in 2001. I have built a business where my clients and I are in a positive relationship. When clients receive sound investment advice for a fair fee Gross Investments wins their confidence and referrals. And that is why I get up in the morning!

Bret Hartman, CFA

After graduating from Elizabethtown College in 2013, I wanted to find a firm that was ahead of the curve, keeping fees lower than its competitors and being mindful that the shift to lower fees was only going to intensify. I also wanted to be at a firm that stood out. Don Gross carries the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, which represents a commitment to excellence and ethical behavior in the investment industry. This is why I pursued and earned my CFA charter. Gross Investments believes that the CFA speaks for itself to our current and prospective clients.

I picked my first stock at 20-years-old. I was a big fan of Facebooks IPO so I purchased the stock near $40/share. I was spooked when it plummeted 50%. And I'm sure you can guess what I did... I sold the stock. Yikes, what a bad call. Facebook recently touched $200/share. Thankfully, I learned a lesson at a young age–don’t let emotion and fear drive investment decisions!

I work behind the scenes, assisting our advisors with office operations, but also as a point of contact for many of our clients. I am a proud Lancaster native and have worked for many years as a retail/ customer service manager before completing my Bachelors of Science degree in Business with a focus in finance.

Since joining Gross Investments, I've completed my master’s degree in Wealth Management from Texas A&M University and I am currently working toward earning a Certified Financial Planner™ designation. In my spare time, I like to spend time with my three beautiful daughters. We enjoy swimming, making crafts and gardening.
